Why you should hate or love psych?!?

I liked all my classmates, I loved the way Ms. Halfen taught us, I loved the subject. I like how

some people could procrasinate and still get A's.

The Brain Project was so interesting, got a real feel of what's going on in there.
Blogging Day was so cool. It was such a laid back thing to do, I mean going through all of our tough classes and than when we got to psych and just relaxed and typed.

Like all AP classes, I didn't like the test. Maybe cause I tend to do mediocrely on it.

Nothing! This class was awesome for the short time I was here.

My one suggestion is don't change, this class was amazing.

My one suggestion for AP Econ is make it easy. I mean its the last social studies class of high school, we're going to procrastinate and we're going to talk. So let's not work too hard on coming up with ways to make us suffer.

Thank you for an amazing semester Ms. Halfen. I really look forward to next semester.

Change My Brain

Most people don't know that you can change your brain structure. A recent study done by John. M Grohol showed that taxi drivers had altered their brain structure. They noticed that the part of the brain that stores representation of our environment was much larger compared to the average brain.
These data are in accordance with the idea that the posterior hippocampus stores a spatial representation of the environment and can expand regionally to accommodate elaboration of this representation in people with a high dependence on navigational skills. It seems that there is a capacity for local plastic change in the structure of the healthy adult human brain in response to environmental demands.
So with that said, you can alter your brain just by doing something differently. That's why some people believe that psychotherapy is a lot better than drugs or any other medication used. People leave the office often feeling different about themselves and others. You act and do things in a way that YOU never thought possible.

Am I Crazy?!?

Dear Baby,

Do you remember when you asked me how college was? Well, college is stupid. Everyone in college wants to be cool, everyone wants to be perfect. Why can't they be like me? We all know if anyone comes close to being perfect its me. All these little girls trying to "get with" me, but we both know they can't because I'm just too good for them. Yesterday my professor, singled me out in class and said maybe we should all try to be like me. I was like don't try, there's only one perfect one and its me. No one else can duplicate, imitate, nor even come close to me and my perfection. After I get out of college I am going to try to be President of the United States. I mean how hard could it be president, I mean was homecoming king, prom king, captiain of the basketball team. I'm pretty sure I can handle it. Some say I am self absorbed and some say the world revolves around the sun. Forget that! The world revolves around me, and even if im self absorbed, you should try to be like me.

anyways thats what college is like babe.
take care of yourself and we'll hang out soon
dont worry

yours truly,

The perfect one.

Post Traumatic Disorder

CASE 4 STUDY:

As Joanne and her boyfriend become more affectionate and intimate with one another, Joanne has started to have flashbacks about an uncle who touched her sexually when she was only eight years old. She is distancing herself from her boyfriend. Although she has been sexual with other men, she says she can’t stand to let herself be sexual with someone she loves and trusts. She startles easily and reports a general increase in anxiety. She says that she thought she had gotten over it.

Joanne is suffering from Post Traumatic Disorder. The recommended treatment required for Post Traumatic Disorder would be Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy.

Through this kind of therapy Joanne is going to have her negative thoughts and flashbacks replaced with healthier ones, that she would spawn with her therapist. Some Cognitive Behavioral therapies are more oriented towards cognitive interventions while some are more behaviorally oriented. In cognitive oriented therapies, the objective is to identify and monitor thoughts, assumptions, beliefs and behaviors that are related and accompanied to replacing negative emotions and to identify those which are dysfunctional, inaccurate, or simply unhelpful

Abrar's Psycho Blog

Lindsay Lohan was born on July 2, 1986 in New York City. She began her illustrious career as a ford model at the age of 3!! Then she would appear in many commercials until she finally got her chance at the big screen in 1996, when she played Ali Fowler from the tv hit "Another World." Lindsay movie the Parent Trap earned her widespread acclaim. She won the young actress award along with many other awards for her role. Then she returned to the TV world, and then tried out singing in 2001, but she wasn't going to turn her back on the Big Screen. So she stared in Freaky Friday and many others.

Then one day Lindsay Lohan decided to make it public that she had an eating disorder. She admitted to having bulimia. Basically eating little helpings of food, and then vomiting after she was done eating. One expert believes that this story will make viewers more sympathetic towards Lindsay, thus attracting more viewers. So she believed this would be a positive effect on her career. Just for the fact that people wanted to sympathize her. In reality, this has a somewhat of a negative impact on her career because people viewed her in a negative way now.

Honestly I believe bulimia is one of the most repulsive things in a girl. Its ok to be self-conscious somtimes some people take it over the edge. I think its a really dumb disorder because people think whatever they want and you can't control what they think. But if you let someone's perspective about you affect you that much, then you will end up doing something dumb, which is a perfect example of what Lindsay Lohan did. She had it all, and now she's about to throw it all away.
